In 2026, several of our Research Assistants, alongside Dr. Perlman and Study Coordinators Krysta and Hailey, took the lead on two posters for the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Symposium (URECA)! We are incredibly proud of our students, and thank you to everyone who has supported us along this journey!

NM-MRI Estimates From Semi-Automated Subject-Specific Masks vs Standard Template

This poster compared magnetic-resonance imaging neuromelanin signal in hand-drawn region-of-interest masks and a universal template mask. The hand drawn masks showed strong inter-rater reliability, but were not more valid than the universal template.

Reward Deficits and Risk Behavior: The Impacts of Anhedonia on Alcohol Use, Cannabis Use, and Recreational Activity in Adolescence

This poster examined whether youth characteristics (demographic, psychological, personality, etc.) predicted future engagement with addictive substances and recreational activities.

Big-Five Personality Traits And Parent-Child Agreement on Adolescent Depression

This poster analyzed the correlation between adolescent-report and parent report of the adolescent's depressive symptoms. It was found that there is a high discrepancy between these reports, with parents often under-reporting depression in their children.

Pediatric Imaging: Measuring Neuromelanin Trajectories (PIGMENT)

This poster showcased demographic and introductory information about PIGMENT, aiming to increase lab engagement and showcase the work we are doing and what the future holds!
